Timber Veneers

LifeStyle Furniture.com.au - the solid Timber furniture specialists - recommends veneers be used sparingly to enhance structural integrity of furniture High quality timber veneers in redgum, Blackwood, Jarrah, Victorian Ash and Tasmanian Oak are used which results in natural grain patterns and colours.

Features & benefits of Veneers:

Lifestyle Furniture is a solid timber specialist and recommends veneers be used sparingly to enhance structural integrity of furniture for the following reasons.

Sustainability: Natural Timber Veneers are beautiful and a very efficient and economical usage of timber in furniture. High quality timber veneers in redgum, Blackwood, Jarrah, Victorian Ash and Tasmanian Oak are used which results in natural grain patterns and colours. The use of veneers preserves solid timbers for use in bench tops, drawer fronts doors and uprights. In a world starting to focus more on resources, it allows timber usage to go further.

Stability & Strength: Timber veneers do not move, they do not expand and contract like a natural timber. Veneer is a strong support material and heavier than timber. For these reasons the ‘chassis’ of timber furniture is often made from timber veneer. Other common uses for timber veneer are door inserts, adjustable shelves, and side panels in cabinet furniture. Lifestyle Furniture is a solid timber specialist and recommends veneers be used in NON traffic applications. We do not recommend veneers for table tops, bench tops, coffee table tops and drawer fronts. The use of timber veneer is done sparingly for two main reasons:

  1. Form in the design elements of the furniture.
  2. To enhance structural integrity, stability and product longevity.

Veneer how it is made: Veneer is produced by slicing leaves from timber logs. The timber is heated first to prevent the timber leaves from splitting. Just as timber planks are cut in different ways to produce types of grain patterns, so too are veneer leaves. The leaves are glued together to produce veneer sheets and then glued to MDF or plywood.

5 Year Guarantee: Lifestyle Furniture has specialised in timber furniture since 1989. Here at Lifestyle Furniture we are happy to discuss with you the use of veneers. Please ask our friendly team to highlight to you where veneer is used in our display models in store.

We stand behind our products with a minimum 5 Year guarantee.
